Universal Studios recently offered Icelandic director Baltasar Kormákur to take over from Martin Scorsese in directing the crime thriller The Snowman, based on a novel by Norwegian author Jo Nesbø.

However, Baltasar declined the offer, Aftenposten reports.

Apparently, Baltasar has plenty of projects to choose from. According to Deadline, Universal also offered the director to make the seventh Fast and the Furious movie.

However, Baltasar proved to have too much on his plate. He is currently finishing filming a pilot for HBO called The Missionary and his movie 2 Guns, starring Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg, is set to premiere this summer.

Baltasar has also announced that he intends to shoot the film Everest in Iceland. Christian Bale has expressed interest in the main role, reports.

Baltasar was recently in Norway to promote his film The Deep, which was shortlisted for an Oscar nomination and won the Edda for Best Film in Iceland last year.

According to Morgunblaðið, the film has been given a warm welcome in Norway.
