“I think it’s a great honor to have been given an entire page in such a respected magazine,” Fridriksdóttir, who is based in the US, told icelandreview.com. “I always aim at doing better today than yesterday […] which applies to every aspect of life.”
“I’m really proud of my origin and I have tried to use as much Icelandic material in my designs as possible, both in clothing items and accessories, which have been very well received,” the designer added.
Fridriksdóttir, who is born and raised in Akureyri, Iceland’s northern capital, graduated with a BA degree in fashion design from Norway’s National College of Art Design in 2002. She founded her label UNNUR in 2006.
In 2007, her handbags were displayed in Iceland’s largest design exhibition to date, Magma/Kvika at Kjarvalsstadir Art Museum in Reykjavík.
