Iceland’s most successful crime novelist Arnaldur Indridason has achieved the goal of selling more than five million copies of his books worldwide. His books are more popular in Germany than in any other country where three million copies have been sold.
“It must be reason to celebrate how successful my books have been around the world; in Germany, France, Sweden, Norway, the Netherlands and in 36 other countries,” Indridason told Fréttabladid.
Egill Örn Jóhannsson, managing director of Forlagid publishing house, said there are no exact numbers on the sale of Indridason’s books in Iceland but he suspects that on average, one book has been sold for every resident (roughly 300,000).
