Icelandic Crime Queen Invades Russia

By Iceland Review

The two first crime novels by Iceland’s “Queen of Crime” Yrsa Sigurdardóttir, Last Rituals (2005) and My Soul to Take (2006), will soon appear in Russian as the author’s Icelandic publisher, Veröld, recently signed an agreement to that end with the largest publishing house in Russia, AST.

AST signs some of the world’s most popular authors, including Dan Brown, Stephen King, Stephanie Meyer, Chuck Palahniuk and John Grisham, as stated on the website of Fabulous Iceland.

My Soul to Take was released in English earlier this year to much critical acclaim and delight of crime readers. Sigurdardóttir’s publisher in the UK, Hodder & Stoughton, responded by ensuring the rights to her next two novels.

Sigurdardóttir’s crime novels have become popular in all corners of the world; Last Rituals will soon appear in Arabic as the Egyptian publishing house Arabesque Publishing Press bought the rights to it last spring.

A new novel by Sigurdardóttir is scheduled to arrive on the Icelandic market before Christmas.
