Icelandic Company in Talks with Chinese Shipping Company

An Icelandic delegation consisting of staff of energy management solutions company Marorka and the Ministry for Foreign Affairs met with representatives of Cosco Group, the largest shipping company in China, in Beijing last week.

Marorka specializes in energy efficiency applications for the shipping industry. The company has implemented its technology on 300 ships with demand having risen sharply over the past months, according to Fréttablaðið.

The company was founded in 2002 and builds on the doctoral research of managing director Jón Ágúst Þorsteinsson.

Cosco is the sixth largest shipping company in the world with a large fleet of tramp steamers.
