“We were flooded with registrations after the listing a few days ago, mostly from Germany,” GreenQloud’s managing director, Eiríkur Sveinn Hrafnsson, told Fréttabladid. He said the listing is a great honor.

GreenQloud was founded in February last year and its computing cloud is facilitated in the Thor Data Center in Hafnarfjördur.

Last year it was named one of the 11 most interesting startup companies in the world in a contest held by the American website gigaom.com.

Hrafnsson said his company is in direct competition with foreign giants in the industry, such as Google, Amazon and Yahoo. “Cloud computing is revolutionizing the software industry. It is doing the same for the software industry that the industrial revolution did for production,” he stated.

Computer clouds host software and data in the data center of a service company. Usually customers buy access to the computer cloud for a certain period, which is considered a good solution for smaller companies because they don’t have to invest in expensive soft- and hardware.
