Icelandic transportation company Eimskip is among 11 companies which have applied for a special permit to service the search for oil in East Greenland from North Iceland in the first round of bidding, visir.is reports.

Until now, the search for oil in Greenland has focused on the western part of the country. However, the search for oil is now also taking place in the east, making North Iceland, some argue, an ideal location for a service center.
Companies in North Iceland have also hoping to participate in projects related to oil production, mining and development in infrastructure in Greenland.
