Iceland Review Online is offering two CDs containing traditional Icelandic and international Christmas songs for sale in limited edition and while supplies last through the web store.
The songs on both albums are performed by the beloved choir of Langholtskirkja Church, conducted by organist Jón Stefánsson for decades.
Á jólunum er gledi og gaman (“Christmas Brings Us Joy and Laughter”) contains everything from the Icelandic version of “Silent Night” (“Heims um ból”) to the traditional “Thad á ad gefa börnum braud” (“Children Should Be Given Bread”).
The other album, Jölasöngvar Kórs Langholtskirkju (“Christmas Songs by Langholtskirkja Church Choir”), a double album, features songs of a more religious nature, including psalms like “Ave María” and “Psallite,” “Hann sem jólin oss gaf” in Icelandic (“He, Who Gave Us Christmas”).
