Icelandic Children’s Book Honored by IBBY

The list, which was presented at the IBBY Congress in London yesterday, is published every other year. The books that are included in it are given significant international publicity the following two years, Morgunblaðið reports.

In other news, a photo book about Iceland by the Norwegian-Hungarian couple Erlend and Orsoyla Haarberg, Iceland in All Its Splendour was released by Forlagið in Icelandic, English and Germany this month.

The photographs of Icelandic landscapes, flora and fauna in all seasons are accompanied by informative texts by Unnur Jökulsdóttir.

Also released this summer was Alda Sigmundsdóttir’s The Little Book of the Icelanders which contains “50 miniature essays on the quirks and foibles of the Icelandic people”.

Originally a self-published eBook, The Little Book of the Icelanders was released in paper form by Vaka Helgafell in June.
