The awards are among the world’s most prestigious, held annually in Asia, Europe and the United States.
Brewer Valgeir Valgeirsson told vísir.is that Myrkvi was developed in collaboration with Reykjavík Roasters and the coffee was hand-picked into the recipe. “We love the result and getting this important recognition was really a treat. The idea was to brew Porter Ale which would be great with steak and other kinds of flavorful dishes, but in addition it works really well with desserts, such as chocolate.”
More beers from Borg Brugghús were awarded at this year’s World Beer Awards. Bríó received the bronze in the category of light German lager beer, Úlfur no.3 got the silver in the category Indian Pale Ale and Egils Lite got the bronze in the category of low carb beer.
