Icelandic Basketballers Score High at Nordic Cup

icelandicflagYoung Icelandic basketball players are faring well at the U-18 Nordic Cup in Solna, Sweden. The boys earned their place in the final of the preliminary round against Finland tomorrow after beating Norway, Sweden and Denmark, visir.is reports.

Meanwhile, the Icelandic U-18 girls beat Norway in its first victory since 2007 this morning, guaranteeing their spot in the game for third place where they will likely play against Denmark. Iceland and Denmark will also meet in the final of the preliminary round tonight.

In other sport news, Valur of Reykjavík became Icelandic champion in women’s handball, earning the title for the third year in a row by beating Fram, also from Reykjavík, 24-21 in their third game in the final last Saturday, sport.is reports.
