Icelandic Author Receives Kairos Award

Icelandic author Andri Snaer Magnason received the Kairos Award in Hamburg, Germany on Sunday. The ceremony, which was dedicated to Magnason and his work, took place in the Hamburg City Theater with 1,200 guests in attendance.

Performers include Icelandic musicians Emilíana Torrini, Pétur Hallgrímsson, Steindór Andersen, Páll frá Húsafelli and Hilmar Örn Hilmarsson, mbl.is reports.

The award is under the auspices of the Alfred Toepfer Institute and is intended for artists working in the field of visual arts, music, architecture, film, photography, literature and mass media. Sunday’s ceremony was covered widely in the European media.

A documentary based on Magnason’s book Dreamland was named Best Documentary at the Eddas, the Icelandic film and television awards, on Saturday.
