Icelandic Artist Shortlisted for Artes Mundi

Ten artists from eight countries have been shortlisted for the Artes Mundi, the UK’s largest contemporary art prize. One of them is Ragnar Kjartansson of Iceland, BBC reports.

The finalists are Karen Mirza and Brad Butler from the U.K., Theaster Gates and Sharon Lockhart from the U.S., Carlos Bunga from Portugal, Omer Fast from Israel, Sanja Ivekovic from Croatia, Renta Lucas from Brazil and Renzo Martens from the Netherlands.

The shortlist was chosen from 800 nominations in 70 countries and organizers said it included some “superstars” of contemporary art.
