Icelandic Artist Nominated for German Award

Icelandic artist Katrín Elvarsdóttir has been nominated for the prestigious 2009 Deutsche Börse Photographic Prize for her exhibition “Equivocal” in Gallery Ágúst in Reykjavík. The prize comes in recognition of raising the profile of contemporary photography.

Elvarsdóttir’s “Gluggatjöld” (“Curtains).

The nominees were chosen by an international team of experts. The international jury will then choose only four artists from the group of nominees, who will participate in an exhibition in London next year and finally choose a winner in March 2009.

Because of Elvarsdóttir’s nomination, her exhibition “Equivocal” will be extended until October 14. Gallery Ágúst is open Wednesdays to Saturdays from 12 noon to 5 pm and by appointment.
