An exhibition of the works by painter Jóhannes Kjarval (1885-1972) and visual artist Ólafur Elíasson (born 1967) opens in the gallery Gammel Strand in Denmark today.
This is the first time that the works of these two artists are exhibited together. The exhibition is labeled Lavaland. Morgunbladid reports.
Iceland’s President Ólafur Ragnar Grímsson will give the opening speech. Grímsson and his wife Dorrit Moussaieff have been invited to have lunch at the royal residence Amalienborg in Copenhagen before the opening.
The president will also address a convention of Danish employers on the success of Icelandic companies and the future of business.
The convention will be attended by CEO of Kaupthing Bank Sigurdur Einarsson, CEO of investment company FL-Group Hannes Smárason and director of Marel Hördur Arnarson.
Uffe Ellemann Jensen, former Foreign Minister of Denmark, will lead the convention.
