Icelandic Art Displayed in New York

“North by New York: New Nordic Art”, a focused survey of contemporary Nordic art, opens at Scandinavia House in New York on April 14, showcasing the work of 15 artists, including Libia Castro and Ólafur Ólafsson, who will represent Iceland at this year’s Venice Biennale.

Other Nordic artists featured at the exhibition are Per Kirkeby and Cecilia Edefalk, Marte Aas, Sara-Vide Ericson, Petri Sirviö and Mieskuoro Huutajat (Screaming Men’s Choir), Henrik Lund Jørgensen, Tal R, Gunnel Waahlstrand and Saana Wang, among others.

All of the largest Nordic countries—Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway and Sweden—are represented.

The exhibition is organized by the American-Scandinavian Foundation (ASF) and curated by the internationally renowned scholar and critic Robert Storr with art historian and independent curator Francesca Pietropaolo.
