Icelandic Actress Rewarded for Tipping Off FBI

An Icelandic beauty queen and actress received ISK 230 million (USD 2 million, EUR 1.5 million) for tipping off the FBI on the location of James “Whitney” Bulgers who had been on the run for 16 years, as reported in the Boston Globe last weekend. The newspaper was criticized for revealing her name.

Bulgers, who is 82 and was arrested this past summer, is believed to be responsible for at least 19 murders and has been found guilty of extortion, drug sale and money laundering, and used to be the most wanted man in America, Morgunbladid and visir.is report.

The woman, who used to work as an actress in the US, saw a picture of Bulgers on CNN and thought he looked similar to her former neighbor in Santa Monica. It turned out she was right about his identity and therefore received the award money.
