Icelandic Actors Audition for Hollywood Movies

Many of Iceland’s foremost actors have been called in to audition for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, which will be filmed in Iceland in September. US actor Ben Stiller will both direct the film and play the lead.

Actors and stats are also needed for Noah, directed by Darren Aronofsky, in which Russel Crowe and Liam Neeson will star, reports.

Noah, which features the Great Flood and how Noah managed to save mankind and the earth’s animals from doom on his arc, will also be shot in Iceland with filming scheduled to start this summer.

Andrea Brabin at model and casting agency Eskimo said more than 100 people could land parts for the two movies and that Rachel Tenner, the casting director for The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, will be coming to Iceland soon.

“We are also looking for actors from the Middle East and Asia. And people with a Latin American look,” Andrea said, adding that for Noah fit men aged 18 to 45 are requested.

In addition to the two aforementioned films, Oblivion, starring Tom Cruise, will also be shot in Iceland this year.

Meanwhile, the trailer for Prometheus by Ridley Scott, parts of which were filmed in Iceland last year has premiered. One can catch glimpses of Icelandic nature in the trailer.

Also, the first episode of Game of Thrones which was shot in Iceland last year premiered in the US on Sunday. According to, fans of the show complimented the Icelandic winter landscape on but some complained about lack of trees.
