Gísli Örn Gardarsson was recently selected as Iceland’s representative in the 2007 Shooting Stars Project organized by European Film Promotion (EFP).
The Shooting Stars Project was launched by EFP in 1998 to present young, up-and-coming actors at the Berlin International Film Festival.
Gardarsson has been praised for his acting in the movie Börn (“Children”), directed by Ragnar Bragason, which was recently chosen as one of the ten best 2006 European films on the website European-films.net.
In the website’s review of Börn it says that Gardarsson played his character [as a bully] “to perfection” and that the film “has a freshness and sense of character truth that more scripted projects often lack.”
Gardarsson told Fréttabladid he would use this opportunity to “take a break and have fun” and to promote Börn. Its sequel, Foreldrar (“Parents”), will premiere in Iceland on January 19, which Gardarsson co-produced.
Börn is the Icelandic Foreign Language Oscar submission. The nominations will be announced on January 24.
