Icelanders Victorious at Jiu-Jitsu European Open

Iceland won five gold, two silver and three bronze medals at the European Open Jiu-Jitsu Championship in Lisbon last week, reports.

A total of 22 Icelanders were registered in the competition.

According to the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association of Iceland, the competition was the sport’s largest to have taken place so far. A total of 3,400 competitors took part.

Ólöf Embla Kristinsdóttir and Guðrún Björk Jónsdóttir from VBC, Sigrún Helga Lund and Sunna Rannveig Davíðsdóttir from Mjölnir and Ása Guðmundsdóttir from Fenrir were named European champions in their categories after taking gold.
