Icelanders are the least likely of individuals in the Nordic nations to take sick leave according to the Nordic Statistical Yearbook 2014.
Only 1.7 percent of Icelanders took more than one week sick leave in 2013, the lowest rate of absenteeism among the Nordic countries. Absence due to illness was highest in Norway with 3.5 percent taking more than one week, followed by Finland with 2.6 percent and then Sweden and Denmark.
Women tend to take more sick leave than men but Icelandic and Danish women took the least sick leave in 2013.
