Icelanders Surpass 330,000 Mark

The population of Iceland at the end of the second quarter of 2015 was 330,610, 166,170 males and 164,440 females, surpassing the 330,000 mark for the first time. The population increased by 870 from the previous quarter.

Inhabitants of the capital region were 212,120, Statistics Iceland reports.

A total of 1,050 children were born in the second quarter of 2015 and 540 persons died. Foreign citizens were 25,090 by the end of the second quarter of 2015.

Net migration was 350 persons. Net migration of persons with Icelandic citizenship was negative by 120 and positive by 470 for foreign citizens. More males than females emigrated.
