The vast majority of Icelanders, or 97 percent, use the internet, making the nation the most connected in Europe. Iceland has also topped the list in previous years.
The proportion of Icelanders using the internet regularly increased by 2 percent between 2013-2014, according to the latest numbers from Statistics Iceland.
On average, 75 percent of Europeans use the internet regularly. There has been a large increase in the number of people connecting to the internet via their mobile phone. Currently, around 59 percent of Europeans use their phone to connect to the internet outside of work or the home.
Internet shopping has also increased. Today, around 67 percent of people in Europe use the internet to make purchases, ruv.is reports.
