Icelandic artists stood out at the Harpa and Northern Lights event in Berlin Monday night, receiving two film music awards and one acting award.
The Harpa awards are given by the Nordic Film Composers Network to celebrate Nordic film composers, while the Northern Lights promotes Nordic actors. The award ceremony took place at the Nordic Embassies in Berlin.
Atli Örvarsson received a Harpa award for the Best Nordic Score, for his music in Grímur Hákonarson’s award-winning film Rams (Hrútar), while Jóhann Jóhannson was presented with an Honorary Award for his contribution to music in film.
Icelandic actress/writer/producer Nanna Kristín Magnúsdóttir received a Casters’ Recognition Award. The selection committee described her not only as an outstanding actress, but also as a talented script writer and producer.
Icelandic actress Aníta Briem received an award in the category Talented Actress.
