Icelanders Send ISK 2 Billion to Children around the World

Nine percent of Icelanders are UNICEF heimsforeldrar, or global parents, a world record.

UNICEF Iceland is now ten years old and in those ten years the organization has sent over ISK 2 billion (USD 18 million, EUR 13 million) abroad to support children in need.

Icelanders have supported children in 190 countries with funds going to improve access to cleaner water, the building of schools and hospitals, visir.is reports.
