Icelanders now reach 300 000

According to a population counter on the web site of Statistics Iceland (www.hagstofa.is), the population of Iceland reached the 300 000 mark at around 7:20 am this morning. The population counter takes account of all births and deaths in Iceland, as well as immigration and emigration statistics.

Morgunbladid reports that population growth in Iceland has been usually high for the last few years. On average, a child is born every hour in Iceland, and five people die each day in the country.
