According to annual reports from the four biggest fast food chains in Iceland, that is, Subway, Domino’s, KFC, and Foodco, Icelanders spent ISK 10.9 billion (USD 85 million, EUR 77 million) at those last year, Kjarninn reports. There are 125,000 households in Iceland meaning that each household spent an average of ISK 87,200 (USD 690, EUR 620) on burgers, French fries, sandwiches and pizzas.
However, visitors to Iceland were responsible for some of those purchases.
All four fast food companies enjoyed good financial health with high profits in 2014.
