Icelanders Have Not Been as Pessimistic in Years

According to a new opinion poll by market research company Capacent Gallup, Icelanders have not been as pessimistic since the company began developing its “expectation index” seven years ago.

The index measures the estimation of participants of the current economic situation, ruv.is reports.

Currently, the index currently measures 23 points and has never been as low. Comparatively, the index measured 59 points last month. When the index is lower than 100 points, it means that more participants are negative than positive about the economic outlook.

The majority of participants now believe that the situation of the Icelandic economy and employment market will be worse after six months than what it is now.
