Icelanders dropped off in Halifax

By Iceland Review

An Icelandic couple returning from Cuba to Iceland via Canada were left behind in Halifax on Saturday, after JetX airline found their behavior unacceptable.

According to Fréttabladid, the couple had brought a lot of alcohol onto the plane and were very drunk. Once in air the husband began harassing the stewardesses and other passengers.

Tómas Björnsson, manager of travel agency Heimsferdir that organized the trip, told Fréttabladid that the passengers seated closest to the man were so fed up with his behavior that they asked whether they could change seats.

When the JetX airplane approached Halifax, the man’s wife tried to calm him down, but then he started hitting her. The captain therefore decided to leave the couple in Halifax.

The airplane landed as scheduled in Keflavík without the couple yesterday. Björnsson said his agency was trying to find an airplane that could pick them up.
