Icelanders in China Have to Vote Again

By Iceland Review

A group of 20 Icelandic citizens, who reside in Shanghai and voted representatives to Iceland’s parliament last weekend, will have to vote again because the absentee election was scheduled prematurely.

After consulting with the Ministry of Justice, the Ministry for Foreign Affairs decided to make use of the trip of an Icelandic diplomat to Shanghai, to spare the Icelanders who reside there the long journey to Beijing, where Iceland’s embassy is located, Fréttabladid reports.

However, as it turned out, the president cannot formally call for elections until March 12, which means those individuals will have to vote again after that date.
