Icelanders to Assist on Power Plants in India

katrinjuliusdottir-radhIcelandic Minister of Industry Katrín Júlíusdóttir met with Indian officials, who expressed interest in energy cooperation with Iceland, following her and Director of Energy Gudni A. Jóhannesson’s participation in the DIREC 2010 conference in New Delhi last week.

At the occasion, an Icelandic-Indian committee on the harnessing of renewable energy resources, geothermal and hydro, held its first formal meeting, as stated in a news item on the website of the Ministry of Industry.

Reykjavík Geothermal signed an agreement to cooperate with the Indian company Thermax on the construction of a geothermal power plant in India.

Landsvirkjun Power and engineering firm Verkís signed a consultation agreement regarding the construction and operation of hydropower plants in the Himalayas.
