Icelander on Yacht Still Missing

Jakob Fenger, a 56-year-old Icelander, whose yacht went missing somewhere between Hamilton in Bermuda and St. John’s in Newfoundland in early June, has still not been found. He was last heard from on June 3.

The US and Canadian Coast Guards called off organized search for the yacht in late June. The Icelandic Coast Guard also undertook an extensive two-day search for the yacht without any results.

The Icelandic Coast Guard believed Fenger might have decided to take the course directly for Iceland instead of sailing to Newfoundland as originally planned.

Therefore, after organized search had been called off, the Icelandic Coast Guard still asked ships to be on the lookout for the yacht and sent a few airplanes to search from air as well, but all search missions have been unsuccessful, Fréttabladid reports.
