Icelander Shortlisted in Shoe Design Competition

Aspiring Icelandic fashion designer Halldóra Eydís Jónsdóttir is among ten students competing in shoe and handbag fashion label Viva la Diva’s “New Shoe Star” design competition. The winner will have his or her collection produced next summer.

Jónsdóttir is a second-year student in shoe design at London College of Fashion. The goal is for students to establish their own companies after graduation and Jónsdóttir told Fréttabladid that she is planning to do so.

“Which is something the people around me would never have guessed. I’m raised on a farm in the countryside around Mývatn!” said the student designer.

Jónsdóttir is the only Icelander in the group of students who were selected to compete in Viva la Diva’s shoe design competition. Their entries can be viewed and commented on on the company’s website.
