Icelander Viktor Aðalsteinsson has been chosen as one of 35 Innovators Under 35 by MIT Technology Review. The list of innovators, published yearly, aims to recognize “exceptionally talented technologists whose work has great potential to transform the world.”
Viktor is working at the Broad Institute in Cambridge, Massachusetts to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment. In his lab, he has put an automated system in place that performs “liquid biopsies,” scanning blood samples for traces of tumor DNA. This research may lead to more information about late stage cancer and which drugs could be more effective in cancer treatment.
