Teitur Jónasson, a photographer at the Iceland-owned Danish newspaper Nyhedsavisen, is among 17 nominees for the Danish Press Photography Award. The winner will be announced on March 7.
“I have to admit that I don’t know much about this award. I just sent in pictures because the others were doing it,” Jónasson told Fréttabladid, referring to the 140 other photographers who submitted their pictures to the competition.
Jónasson submitted 25 photographs, most of them featuring the street riot in Copenhagen last year in relation to the demolishing of a beloved youth club. Jónasson also submitted pictures from the world championship in cliff diving in Mexico.
