Icelander Nominated for Danish Oscars

ida-movie_coverIcelandic special effects technician Jóhannes Sverrisson is nominated for the Robert Award this year, the Danish film industry’s equivalent to the Oscars, for the special effects in ID:A along with the Dane Søren Hvam.

Nomination for the Robert Award is considered a great honor, Morgunblaðið reports.

ID:A (2011) is an action thriller directed by Christian E. Christiansen. Tuva Novotny stars as Aliena who wakes up in a river in France with a large scar on her stomach and a bag containing EUR 2 million (ISK 323 million, USD 2.6 million) but no recollection of what happened or who she is, as stated on kino.dk.

In other film news, it was revealed on Facebook yesterday that the Icelandic thriller Black’s Game (original title: Svartur á leik), directed by Óskar Þór Axelsson, will premiere in Iceland on March 2.

The world premiere will be in Rotterdam at the end of this month.
