Icelander to become theater director in New York

Icelandic author and entrepreneur, Ólafur Jóhann Ólafsson, has accepted an offer to become the next director of Atlantic Theater in New York.

Ólafsson has been a board member for the non-profit theater for a while and has been active in securing funding for its restoration. Fréttabladid reports.

The Atlantic Theater began as a school, founded by playwright David Mamet and actor William Macy in 1985. It is located in Chelsea, Manhattan.

Two of Atlantic’s stagings have been shown on Broadway, securing more funding and furthering the theater’s reputation.
