In an effort to promote its companies, Icelandair Group, subsidiary of FL Group, bought up all the ad space in today’s edition of daily Morgunbladid. It is also paying for Morgunbladid to be distributed for free to 120,000 households, double the normal circulation.
Icelandair CEO Jón Karl Ólafsson said that the move was the first step in an ad campaign that would last for the next weeks and months.
In a separate news item, Ólafsson told Morgunbladid that the advertisements in today’s paper center around promoting the the place Icelandair holds in Icelandic society. He said that Icelandair routes, destinations, special offers, the number of airplanes the company operates are topics that are also being promoted.
Icelandair Group consists of 10 companies which offer scheduled flights, chartered flights, cargo flights, hotels and other travel related products and services.
According to a FL Group news release from February 10: “The board of directors of FL Group hf. has decided to apply for the listing of Icelandair Group on the Iceland Stock Exchange (ICEX). Preparation for the listing has begun, and the aim is to complete the process during the first half of the year”.
