Icelandair plane hit by lightning

By Iceland Review

One of Icelandair’s Boeing 757 aircraft was hit by lightning on its way from Frankfurt, Germany, last Friday. On board were 90 passengers, including 13 people who were on a trip to commemorate their completion of a fear of flying course. This was reported by RÚV.

One of the course participants, who preferred to remain anonymous, contacted RÚV and said that passengers had been alarmed when the plane was hit and momentary flames appeared. The captain had subsequently informed passengers as to what had happened and that all was well. The passenger who contacted the news service said that despite the unfortunate timing of the incident, he had nearly overcome his fear of flying.
