Icelandair to Increase Capacity by 15 Percent

Icelandair has decided to increase the availability of international flights by 15 percent, or capacity for an estimated 250,000 passengers, next year. Two Boeing 757 aircrafts will be added to the airline’s fleet.

Anchorage, St. Petersburg, and Zurich will be added to Icelandair’s list of destinations making the schedule of international flights the largest in the company’s history, mbl.is reports.

Higher growth is expected during the winter months, in line with the company’s aim to reduce seasonal fluctuations.

A record number of tourists have visited Iceland this year. In 2011, 565,000 tourists visited the country and numbers are up by more than 18 percent this year.
