Minister of Transport Kristján Möller gave Icelandair Group CEO Jón Karl Ólafsson the first ever Transport Award at a special ceremony yesterday, for the company’s pioneering work on developing aviation transport to and from Iceland.
Möller said during the ceremony that the award is meant to be a recognition of significant work and a guiding light, a role model and encouragement for those who work in the field of transport, Morgunbladid reports.
The Transport Award will be handed out every year from now on.
Former Minister of Transport Sturla Bödvarsson appointed a group to submit nominations for the award, headed by the President of the Confederation of Icelandic Employers (SA) Ingimundur Sigurpálsson.
