Icelandair Delays Flights Due to Strike

By Iceland Review

Icelandair delayed all departures of its airplanes that were supposed to take off from Keflavík International Airport until 10 am this morning because of an ongoing strike among airplane mechanics.

The strike began at 6 am this morning and ended at 10 am. The negotiations between airplane mechanics and the Confederation of Icelandic Employers (SA) ended without an agreement yesterday and therefore airplane mechanics resorted to striking, reports.

If an agreement isn’t reached, the strike will continue in the same manner tomorrow and on Friday. All Icelandair flights will be delayed today because of the action and the airline estimates that approximately 20,000 passengers will be affected.

There is no news of continued wage talks.
