Icelandair and WOW Air have canceled all flights to destinations on the northeast coast of the US today, where a blizzard warning is in effect for New York City and southern New York State through this evening. Heavy snow is expected in those areas.
Icelandair announced last night that six flights to and from Newark, New York and Boston, scheduled this afternoon, have been canceled. WOW announced this morning its flights to Newark and Boston would be canceled, RÚV reports.
The Icelandair flights canceled are FI631 to Boston, scheduled to depart at 5 pm, FI623 for Newark at 5 pm, and FI615 for JFK Airport at 5:05 pm.
The WOW flights that were canceled are WW103 to Newark, scheduled at 3:15 pm and WW125 at 3:40 pm to Boston.
As a result, the return flights by both airlines to Iceland have been canceled as well. Most flights in the region have been canceled while the blizzard moves through.
