Icelandic athletes at the 2015 Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles, which closed on Sunday, brought home 13 medals: four gold, three silver and six bronze.
Jóhann Fannar Kristjánsson won three gold medals and two bronze, Birkir Eiðsson one gold and one bronze, Erla Björg Haraldsdóttir two silver and one bronze and Eydís Ásgeirsdóttir one silver and one bronze.
Coach Eva Hrund Gunnarsdóttir was naturally very pleased about the result, telling mbl.is “The result is fantastic and there were some really great kids participating.”
Iceland sent 41 participants to this year’s Games.
