Iceland Ties Norway 1-1 in Football

The game between Iceland and Norway in men’s football on Laugardalsvöllur stadium in Reykjavík on Saturday ended with a draw, 1-1. This was Iceland’s final game in qualifying round for the 2010 Football World Cup in South Africa.

Iceland already disqualified from the championship after their game against Macedonia in June and is at the bottom of their qualifying group with five points.

Norway, on the other hand, had a chance to qualify had they only beaten Iceland, but after the draw they had only earned seven points which isn’t enough to enter into the next round, according to mbl.is.

The first goal of the game was scored by John Arne Riise of Norway from a free kick in the 11th minute. Eidur Smári Gudjohnsen of Iceland evened the score with a header in the 29th minute. Iceland had many chances to win the game, but blew them all.
