Iceland Through to Eurovision Finals

Iceland’s entry to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest, ‘No Prejudice’ by Pollapönk, is through to Saturday’s finals.

Ten of the 16 countries which performed in the first semi-finals in Copenhagen last night secured a spot in the final.

The result was determined by way of a 50/50 split between national expert juries and televoting.

Another ten finalists will be announced after the second semi-final tonight.

Eurovision dominated media coverage in Iceland yesterday with media outlets competing to be the first to publish news of the results. Mbl.is mistakenly announced in a story on their website last night that Iceland had not made it to the finals. The story was posted before all ten finalists were announced. It is the fourth time that Iceland has been announced last in the list of ten finalists.

The story was removed within a minute of being published but screenshots of the story have been shared widely on social media. Mbl.is apologized for the mistake on their Facebook page, joking that the journalist had been caught up in the suspense.
