Iceland Symphony Orchestra Praised in Gramophone

One of the most respected magazine in the classical musical world, Gramophone, named the latest album by the Iceland Symphony Orchestra and its principal conductor Rumon Gamba, D’Indy Orchestral Works Vol. 2, as one of the ten best albums of the month.

The album is also currently the “Editor’s Choice.”

According to Morgunbladid, Gramphone’s review states that the Orchestra is playing with sophistication, describing the tone of the recording as having tangible intimacy and a charming brightness.

The album features the work of French composer Vincent d’Indy, Symphony No. 2 and two shorter compositions. It’s the second album in the Chandos record label’s Iceland Symphony Orchestra series.

The album was also nominated for a Grammy.
