Iceland Symphony Orchestra Holds Free Concert

The Iceland Symphony Orchestra has decided to invite the Icelandic nation to concerts on Friday and Saturday this week where symphonies by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius will be performed. Those who have already bought tickets will get a refund.

On the orchestra’s website it says that in difficult times there are few things better than good music for lifting the spirit and therefore the orchestra is pleased to be able to open its doors to the nation in this way.

The concerts are part of the orchestra’s preparation for a tour to Japan. Symphonies No. 2 and 4 will be played during the first concert at 7:30 pm on Friday and symphonies No. 5, 6 and 7 during the second concert at 5 pm on Saturday.

Both concerts will be held at Háskólabíó, the University of Iceland Cinema. Petri Sakari will conduct.
