Iceland Set for Good Summer

Summer in Iceland is set to be a good one if the forecast for the Eve of Sumardagurinn fyrsti (the First Day of Summer) on April 25 is correct.

According to legend, people considered it a good sign if summer and winter ‘freeze together’ (if there was frost on the last night before summer). The forecast is for sub-zero temperatures on Wednesday evening.

Thursday marks the first day of Harpa, the first summer month of the old Icelandic calendar.

Weather forecasts are available on the website of the Icelandic Met Office.
