Iceland Sends Money to Syrian Refugees

By Iceland Review

The Icelandic Church Aid (Hjálparstofnun Kirkjunnar) has sent ISK 16.6 million (USD 150,000, EUR 110,000) to Syria to help some of the 4.2 million Syrians who are displaced within the country, reports.

The International Orthodox Christian Charities (IOCC), which works within Syria, will give help to those in most need.

At the end of January 2013, there were 554,855 Syrians who had fled the country compared to 2,420,058 today, according to the United Nations Refugee Agency. The number equals seven and a half times the population of Iceland.
